FAQs About Officials

Q:

Can we pay officials?

A:
Not yet. That is planned for a later phase.

Q:

Is there a report for paying out officials?

A:
It is on the list of future releases. This will help you with your payout process; it will show the list of officials and games officiated, so you know what to pay them.

Q:

Can I specify a position when assigning officials?

A:
Yes, check out Manage and Assign Officials Positions to learn more.

Q:

Can I send my officials a message (or email)?

A:
Yes! On the Messages tab, select event officials (or all officials) and you can filter that group by a tag if you want. Enter your message and send.

Q:

Where do my officials log in to view assignments, accept/decline assignments, or self-assign?

A:
They should login (or create an account) at https://events.teamsnap.com . Their email for their account should match the email the admin invited them with. Officials can also download the TeamSnap Tournaments app, login/create an account with the same email, and can view assignments and accept/decline assignments from the app.

Q:

Can I auto assign officials?

A:
Not yet. Tracking availability and auto-assigning officials are for a later phase.

Q:

Do I have to use the scheduler in order to use the Officials product?

A:
Yes, you’ll need to be a TeamSnap Tournaments customer or a TeamSnap for Clubs and Leagues customer on the Premium or Ultra plan to use the product.

Q:

If I want to wait to set up my schedule, can I use a dummy schedule?

A:
Tournament directors generally set up the schedule at the same time as they assign officials. For those who tackle officials first, please keep track, so we can prioritize accordingly.

Q:

What happens if an official creates conflicting self-assignments?

A:
Admin will be able to see conflicts and will receive a notification which will show up in the Admin console. Note: Admins will be able to see officials with conflicts, as they will be labeled in red, under “Officials with Conflicts”.

Q:

How can an official turn back a game (aka decline a game assignment)?

A:
The official need simply click “Can’t Make it” and the follow-up red box to decline.

Q:

What happens if an official wants to turn down a game really close to an event?

A:
At the moment, they can still decline, but we’re planning to remove the “Can’t Make It” button and replace with “Contact the assigner”.

Q:

Can an official self-assign from their mobile device?

A:
Not yet! At his time, they can accept and decline assignments on their mobile device.

Q:

On the mobile platform, will an admin be able to see their tags?

A:
The tagging was implemented to help admins segment officials based on abilities. The concept of positions will be implemented separately in the future; those will show in the mobile app when we offer it.

Can I use Officials from the Basic plan for C&L?

A:
No, you have to upgrade to Premium or Ultra in order to use Officials.
