Recycle Your Team: How to Start a New Team from an Old Team

Go Team! Go Green!  Do you have an active plan on a defunct or dormant team in your account?  Do you have a new team that could use your old team’s active plan?  Don’t let the plan expire when a new team could use their plan!  A new team can be created from the ashes of the old team, utilizing the unused portion of their plan.

There are two different options to accomplish your goal, and both methods begin in the same place.  Access the team through the  owner’s account using the browser version of TeamSnap (not the app) and go to Preferences tab> Seasons, please see below:

Option A:  Use this method if you want to retain the old team’s data in an archived season.  To preserve the old data, click the Start a New Season button.  This will direct you through the steps to archive the old team’s season. Make sure that you check the associated boxes to archive all of the data that you do not to carry to the new team.

Once the old season is archived, you can make your changes to your new season/team.  All aspects of the old team can be erased and the new data can be entered.  Also to break the old roster's connection to the calendar, contact support and request a calendar reset.  Please include the team's name with the request and ask to have the .ics calendar link reset.  If members from your old team subscribed to your team’s calendar through an outside calendar, this will break the calendar link so that they will not receive updates from your new team’s calendar.

All other team information can be changed under  Preferences tab> Team SettingsEdit.  From this window, the team name, sport, and other data can be adjusted.

Option B:  Use this method if you no longer need any of the old team’s data.  To remove all data, click the Reset Current Season button.  This will delete all Games/Events/Statistics for this team. No data will be saved.

After the delete processes, you will need to manually remove the players from the  Roster. Also to break the old roster's connection to the calendar, please contact support and request a calendar reset.

After following one of the options above, a new team will be created from your old team.  The new team will be active on the old team's payment plan.
