Yes, TeamSnap can automatically post scores from your team’s games to your Facebook wall.
To enable this, click on the Preferences tab and then on the Facebook button. If you have not already done so, you will need to connect your Facebook account to TeamSnap.
By enabling score posting, any time a new score is entered for one of your team’s games we will post an update to your wall with the score of the game. Enabling Facebook posting will not go back and retroactively post past scores.
I don’t want to post losses on Facebook
No problem! Once you click the checkbox to enable Facebook posting, you’ll have the option to only post scores in the event of a win or tie.
How do you customize the score reporting to my sport?
For many sports, we try to customize the wording of the post to make it sound more like a sportscast. Depending on the score, we may say you “crushed” or “were edged by” your opponent. If you prefer more generic wording, you’ll see an option to use generic words to describe the score — simply “beat” or “lost to.”
Why do you need extra Facebook permissions for my account?
In order for us to post to your Facebook wall as you, from our application, we need the “write_stream”, “read_stream”, and “offline_access” permissions. When you add the TeamSnap Facebook app, we ask for those extra permissions. If you choose not to grant us those permissions, you won’t be able to use this feature (you will still be able to use Facebook to log in, though).
If you’ve changed your mind and want to grant us those permissions, so that you can use score posting, we will prompt you with a “Grant Permissions” Facebook button in the appropriate place. Click on that, add the permissions, and you should be set. You can also Sign Out of TeamSnap (using the Sign Out link at the top), then log back in with Facebook. You should be prompted to add any permissions that are missing. Once your permissions are in the right state, you will be able to use this score posting feature!
If you’re not prompted to add those permissions for some reason when clicking on one of the Facebook buttons, you can go to the “My Account” link at the top, then the Account Settings area, and disable Facebook login. Then sign out, log back in with Facebook, and you should be able to re-add the TeamSnap Facebook app with proper permissions.
