TeamSnap’s Payments tab allows you track fees owed by your players and have payments made right from the site through PayPal . Payments made via PayPal will incur approximately a 5% charge. The charge includes the standard PayPal fees of approximately 2.9% + 30¢ (your fees may be slightly different depending on your arrangement with PayPal), plus a 2% fee for TeamSnap.
Only the team owner may set up a PayPal account to receive payments. The associated fees are always charged to the owner. If you wish to pass these fees on to your players, we suggest increasing the amount of each fee to cover the charges. Please find a full description of the fees below.
Getting Set Up on PayPal
Click on the Set Up PayPal button to get started. Only the team owner will be able to enable online payments with PayPal. After reading and agreeing to the terms of service, enter your Verified PayPal Account information. If you do not have a PayPal account or if it is not yet verified, you can sign up for free, or sign in to your existing PayPal account and follow the instructions for getting verified.
After entering your Verified information, select your Preferred Currency from the drop-down box. Your current funding options are: USD, U.S. Dollar; CAD, Canadian Dollar; AUD, Austrailian Dollar; EUR, Euro- Germany; HKD, Hong Kong Dollar; GBP, Pound Sterling; & SGD, Singapore Dollar.
Then click the Save button and you will be ready to collect payments via PayPal on the browser version of TeamSnap (not the app at this time).
Creating a New Team Fee Owed using PayPal
Click on the +New Team Fee button. Enter the name of the fee (i.e. Jerseys), the amount owed and any notes about the fee. Once you have set up your PayPal account, players will have the option to pay with PayPal. These payments will be subject to PayPal fees which will be charged to the team owner and deducted from the amount paid.
Users can only pay via PayPal on the browser version of TeamSnap at this time. They cannot pay via PayPal on the app. When they log in through a browser, they will see the Pay My Fees With PayPal button.
After a user clicks the Pay My Fees With PayPal button, they will see a pop-up window that lists all fees that they owe on the team. From this screen they can select the payments they want to make with the current transaction before being directed to PayPal to complete the payment.
Passing the Team Fee on to the Player
If you wish to pass the fees on to your team, you will need to increase the payment amount by approximately 5% in order to account for the approximately 5% taken out for the PayPal & TeamSnap fees. For example, if you enter a team fee of $100 for new uniforms and would like to pass the associated fees on to your team, you should increase the fee by $5.00 ($100 x 5% = $5.00) and enter a total fee amount of $105.00.
Adjusting the Amount a Person Owes
If you want to allow team members to pay you by cash or check and avoid the associated fees, you can adjust the payment by clicking on the Pencil next to their amount owed. In the pop-up window, click on More Options..., and then enter the amount owed in the Owes a different amount box. If desired, you can enter an optional Note about the transaction by adding a Transaction Note: before clicking the √Save button. In this example, you would enter $100 dollars and a note along the lines of “Paid by check.”
To refund a fee collected via PayPal, log into your PayPal account and click the Refund button. You will need to manually enter the refund in TeamSnap by adjusting the amount the person owes (see above). TeamSnap fees are not refundable.
Collecting Team Fees by Credit Card
Through the PayPal set up, players also have the option to pay team fees using their credit card without having a PayPal account. These payments will be subject to the same fees as the PayPal transactions described above.
