Creating Posts on Website Builder

Posts are written entries that are displayed in a blog-like format on your site. They are displayed in reverse order (newest to oldest) and include comment sections for readers to add commentary and feedback on your posts if enabled. Posts are meant to be used for articles (blog posts, news, events, etc).

  1. Log into your site dashboard (e.g. www.examplesite.com/wp-admin/)
  2. Click Posts on the dashboard menu
  3. Click the Add New button
  4. Enter the title or headline of your post in the first field
    1. Avoid using the same title more than once
    2. Commas, apostrophes, quotation marks, hyphens/dashes and other typical symbols can all be used
    3. The post slug (user-friendly URL used for the permalink) will be auto-generated by the site
  5. Write the body of your post in the large main post editing box
    1. Optional: Use the text tab at the top to switch to the code view of the post where you can use tags as listed here
  6. Optional: Click the Preview button to see what your post will look like once published
  7. Optional: Select a category, add tags, add a featured image, make any other selections as desired on the page
  8. Click Publish to save and publish your post publicly
    1. Optional: Click Save Draft to save your post without publishing it publicly right away
