Health Check General Info
TeamSnap's health check is a questionnaire that opens 12 hours before an event and asks members questions recommended by the CDC for COVID-19 symptom screening. This paid plan feature is free to all TeamSnap customers during the COVID-19 pandemic and is available within all TeamSnap teams.
Info: The health check feature is compatible with TeamSnap for iOS version 5.8.2 (or later) and TeamSnap for Android version 6.9.3 (or later).
This feature provides a way for team members to complete a screening in their mobile app before attending scheduled team events and easily pull up the green clearance screen to show coaches and volunteers when they arrive at a game or practice.
Team administrators can see completed health check statuses so they know who is cleared to attend and can export and share the data as a CSV file. Health check reports can be accessed within event detail screens on both mobile apps and when logged into TeamSnap on a web browser. Viewing the health check report will also provide an export option if you need a report of health check statuses - we do not store specific health check answers.
Important note: Health checks are meant to assist in screening team members who may be experiencing COVID symptoms or may have been exposed to COVID during travel prior to attending games and events. Health check status should not be used as a diagnosis. Team members that are not cleared by the health check should consider seeking medical care and further testing.
Attention Safari Users: Currently there is a known issue where health check exports requested in Safari web browsers are missing the .csv extension in the filename, which prevents the file from being opened in the correct format. Until this issue can be resolved, please edit the filename and add .csv to the end in order to open the export spreadsheet. Alternatively, you can request the export using the mobile app, then email the file to yourself and access it from a computer.
Common Questions
Where do I find or turn on health checks for my team(s)?
Health checks are currently automatically enabled for all teams and can be accessed in the Details screen for each game and event when using the mobile app. Make sure to update to the latest version of the app: iOS version 5.8.2 (or later) and TeamSnap for Android version 6.9.3 (or later). Health check questions open for submission 8 hours before each game or event.
Is this a paid feature?
Health check is a paid plan feature but we believe that protecting athletes, families, and sports organizations during a pandemic should not cost you. For that reason, we will be making it available to all customers for free during our current climate. We will evaluate the overall climate before we make any decisions to move this back to a paid feature and will clearly communicate with all customers before doing so.
How long is health check data stored?
Member health check statuses will be stored for 90-days after the applicable event date. We do not store the specific answers to each question for privacy reasons.
Can members edit their answers after they have been submitted?
No, answers cannot be edited once they have been submitted.
What are the default questions?
- Have you experienced a fever of 100.4˚F or greater in the past 10 days?
- (Temperature measurement will change based on location (˚F vs ˚C))
- Have you received a positive result from a COVID-19 test within the past 14 days?
- Have you been in contact with anyone while they had COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
- In the past 14 days, have you experienced any of these symptoms that are not attributed to another health condition: cough, loss of smell or taste, runny nose, shortness of breath, or a sore throat?
- In the past 14 days, have you, or someone you have been in contact with, traveled outside your state/province/country or to an area with restrictions due to COVID-19?
How did you decide what questions to ask?
We are using questions recommended by the CDC as our starting point. Based on our research, these are common questions that almost all teams, organizations and health departments are requesting.
Can I add my own questions?
Yes, you can customize health check questions.
Can I delete all of the health check questions?
No, at least one health check question is currently required.
As an administrator, can I export the health check results?
Yes! Health check status reports can be exported for each game and event. Just access the desired game/event to view the health check statuses of your team and you will see the option to export.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
TeamSnap is not a health care provider or insurer, as a result HIPAA is not applicable. However, we place extreme value on data security and privacy. For these reasons we are not storing answers to screening questions and only retain the resulting status for team members for 90 days.
Do I get notified when someone is not cleared?
The current version of the feature does not have automated notifications when someone is not cleared to participate. Automated reminder notifications for member failure is something that TeamSnap is monitoring interest in.
Are notifications sent as reminders?
The initial version of the feature will allow participants using the iOS mobile app to opt-in to get a reminder on each game or event when the Health Check window opens. An automated reminder notification is something that TeamSnap is monitoring interest in.
What should I do if someone is not cleared?
Please get in touch with the participant to better understand their situation. After doing so, we suggest you contact your local health department for next steps.
Does this also help with health waivers?
We know that sometimes health screenings and health waivers have been used interchangeably. Health check is strictly focused on screening, while waivers can be collected using our registration solution.
I'm an organization administrator, how do I access the health check?
Health check is available on team-level events, so navigate to a specific team to access the health check for the desired team's events. There is currently no organization-level report or comprehensive view across all teams in an organization.
Can health check be opened earlier than 12 hours before an event?
Currently the health check opening period cannot be adjusted.
